REFLECTIONS ALONG THE WAY

From the desk of Steve Macchia
Dear Friend,

“Unprecedented” 2020 continues to roll along, with huge issues in front of us. One loaded word summarizes each: pandemic, race, economy, politics, uncertainty.  I trust you are persevering, holding fast to a faith that never fades, held by the guiding hand of God who lovingly provides everything we need. The LTI ministry is sustained by God’s grace and goodness, and we thank you for your partnership and participation. This issue of our e-news focuses on the gifts and blessings of our 17th year of ministry.

Your brother on the journey,

Steve Macchia

LTI Ministry Highlights
LTI's 17TH ANNIVERSARY CAMPAIGN
When COVID-19 arrived on the scene, all our best-laid plans for 2020 went right out the window. However, God has surprised us with so many "new things" in the midst of this unforgettable global pandemic (several of them featured below).

Our 17th Anniversary Campaign kicked off July 1 with $435K to raise by December 31, and we've already reached 40% of the goal. Join the campaign, and celebrate with us all that God is doing through the ministry of LTI.

FEATURED EVENTS:
Formed by God’s Word - 1 John
Date: Thursday, November 5, 2020
Time: 10am-12pm EST
Facilitator: Jeremy Stefano

The Formed by God’s Word workshops are designed with a view towards being spiritually formed by God’s Word, not merely informed. They integrate careful study of the Bible with prayerful reflection. In this workshop on the book of 1 John, we will be discussing the theme of knowing God in love. We will examine the claims that love makes and the possibility of fellowship with God and each other. Attention will also be given to the path of spiritual growth as addressed by John. Click here to register.
The Enneagram Workshop
Date: Saturday, November 14, 2020
Time: 11am-2pm EST
Facilitator: Rick Anderson

The Enneagram has been increasingly recognized as a helpful tool for self-awareness and discipleship, with roots in Christian spiritual theology. This workshop presents a distinctly Christian approach to using the Enneagram for discipleship. A portion of the workshop will be spent introducing the Enneagram through a biblical and theological lens. Each registrant will take an online Wagner Enneagram Personality Style Scales (WEPSS) Enneagram assessment in advance of the workshop. With detailed and personalized results in hand, we'll spend the morning together exploring the self-discovery insights offered by this ancient tool. Click here to register.

NEW RELEASE: TEAM HEALTH ASSESSMENT TOOL (THAT)
The Team Health Assessment Tool (THAT) was designed to help the team leader and team members listen well to one another, assess their areas of strength, highlight areas in need of improvement and thrive together in ministry.  The 30-question survey covers the five traits of a healthy team: trust, empowerment, assimilation, management, and service. We believe that listening is the starting point for all of the best efforts surrounding team life and service to others. And at just $20 per team member, it's affordable for teams of all sizes. Click below for more information and to view a sample THAT report.

Do you shop on Amazon? Are you aware of the Amazon Smile program? Amazon will donate .5% of your purchases to the charity you designate in your profile. If you don't already have a designated charity, would you please consider adding LTI to your profile?

Here's how you do it:
• On a mobile device, open the Amazon App, and click on the three horizontal lines in the menu, scroll down to Settings and then choose Amazon Smile. You should be able to find us by searching "Leadership Transformations"

• On a desktop, go to https://smile.amazon.com/ and look for the option to designate your charity. Search for "Leadership Transformations"

When you shop:
1. If you're shopping via your mobile device, you don't need to do anything once Amazon Smile has been activated in the settings. Just shop as usual via the app.
2. If you're shopping via a web browser on a desktop, you need to shop/purchase at https://smile.amazon.com/ in order for your purchases to benefit your charity, so bookmark that URL! When you're shopping at smile.amazon.com, you'll see confirmation in the top banner "Supporting: Leadership Transformations" (and you can see how Amazon's donations are adding up based on your purchases!). Other than that, smile.amazon.com looks and functions exactly like amazon.com.

If you'd be willing to designate LTI as your Amazon Charity we'd appreciate the Amazon donations you could generate through your Amazon purchases. Every little bit helps!

SPIRITUAL DIRECTION TRAINING
The Selah Certificate Program in Spiritual Direction is intentionally trinitarian in theology, contemplative in style and biblical in grounding. In this threefold context, we grow from the wisdom and experience of the church through readings in the classics of spiritual formation and through the learned practice of spiritual direction together.

Selah's curriculum is designed to nurture each participant's foundational understanding of the theology of spiritual formation through faculty teaching during retreat residencies, as well as reading and reflection assignments in between residencies. The curriculum is also structured to develop each spiritual director’s central practice through small group experiences in retreat residencies, as well as individual experiences offering spiritual direction and reflecting on it with a Selah faculty supervisor in between residencies, either in person or by phone.
The 2021-2023 application season for Selah-East, Selah-West, and Selah-Europe will open in November of 2020. Would you like to be notified when the Selah application season begins?

EMMAUS HAS BEEN REDESIGNED AND LAUNCHED!
The New Emmaus Certificate in Formational Leadership
The new Emmaus program has been redesigned with a heavy emphasis on equipping spiritual leaders to be agents of transformation in their own leadership contexts. The contemplative community qualities that have been the hallmark of Emmaus will remain, but the new program will also feature the following enhancements:
  • Six thematic retreats over a two-year period
  • Expanded faculty and enhanced formational leadership curriculum
  • New online cohort now available
  • Every participant will complete a 2-year Certificate in Formational Leadership
  • Community-based learning with an emphasis on each leader’s impact and the ripple effects of nurturing their own contemplative life
  • One-on-one mentoring, spiritual companionship, reading and written work between retreats
  • Undertake a personal silent retreat in year one of the program, and design and facilitate a retreat for others in year two
The Emmaus Certificate in Formational Leadership seeks to train and equip leaders in making spiritual formation, discernment and renewal the guiding priorities of their life and ministry.
YEAR ONE
Retreat 1: Spiritual Formation
Retreat 2: Spiritual Practices
Retreat 3: Spiritual Rest

YEAR TWO
Retreat 4: Spiritual Leadership
Retreat 5: Spiritual Discernment
Retreat 6: Spiritual Community

Due to retreat center closures from COVID-19, the Retreat-Based Emmaus is on hiatus until 2021. However, the new Emmaus-Online cohort was launched with a full roster of 24 participants in September. Please pray for this cohort as they journey together for the next 2 years!
